Can 3rd party batteries be used for the Leaf Aptus 22? If so, does anyone have any recommendation of brands to get or avoid?

Many thanks,

Gilles

I got 2 Leaf branded SBL160 batteries with my Aptus 22 and bought 4 more SBL160 generic batteries from an Amazon.com vendor. 2 of the generics have acted funny while charging and one doesn't charge at all after half year. One Leaf battery is dead as well now after a year. So I guess there is no assurance in the branded or non branded batteries. If you buy non branded at a cheap price, then buy plenty of them. It's too much hassle to send back $10-20 batteries. The Leaf batteries have short warranties.

Samsung branded SBL160 batteries are around $50 each, non branded around $20. I have no idea what Leaf sells them for.

I purchased SB-L320 batteries from MaximalPower. They're about $25 and run the back for an hour or so. I've never tested the actual length as I shoot more tethered than off the batteries. Anyhow, it's two years old and seems to give me about a 30 - 45 minutes at present. The SB-L160 batteries are about $15, but not enough cheaper to warrant buying them in my opinion.

I get about 90-120 minutes of continual use from any of the SBL160 batteries I use on an A22. I can get about 2 hours of tether time on a Macbook before the battery level on the laptop gets to about 40%. I heard not to let the battery drain low to avoid power issues to the back. What back do you use?

I use Haenel 4000mAh batteries .... 2 of them will do me for a day on site. They've been doing well for 2 years I think.
