Very pretty, Graeme.  I think the "portrait" orientation works best, with its contrast between the warm light on the foreground and the cold light of the sky.

I can't see the first one using Firefox for a browser .. but the second is lovely.
As a new, young photographer I think the coloring of the water is absolutely beautiful!

Some of the best photo oppurtunities are foud when you least expect it!

Hey folks,

First post here.  Thought I'd start by sharing a photo and a story.  Was out last night, right around dusk, planning to try and take some photos of a steel mill at night (if you've ever seen one at night, you'll know they are eerily beautiful from afar at night).  Well, while driving, I happened upon a little inlet tucked in between the mill and a highway.  I've passed by it so many times during the day, but never gave it a second glance as it is pretty gloomy and boring.  But this time, I suppose I stumbled upon it at just the right time.

Comments are welcome!

Thanks,
Graeme

Nicely done!  And yes, I'd go with the Portrait vs Landscape...

I'm using Firefox, which doesn't let open most images. The one you pasted into you email, in my opinion, is just stunning. What makes it so is the layers that "walk" the eye through the various elements of the image, from the bricks in front to the various layers of color in the water, to the delicate island with reflecting trees, etc. Very pleasing to the eye, and evokes a sense of calm and reflection.

Great Work.
I didn't see the first pic, but the second is outstanding.

I'll bet it's even better than the steelworks pics.

BWT - I agree about the steelworks - very interesting at night.

Thanks.
