Are there any of you out there who have had very good experiences with a workshop/instructor or school with in depth classes on fine art black and white printing that you would recommend?

I assume, from your question, that you already have a good working knowledge of color management and inkjet printing? I can't speak to fine art B&W printing workshops, but I do think highly of R. Mac Holbert of Nash Editions here in southern California. I took a 1 day fine art inkjet printing workshop with him and learned a great deal about best practices.

The reason I bring up Mac's name is because he teaches workshops around the country, most recently with the Epson Print Academy.

John Paul Caponigro is another person whose name is often mentioned in digital fine art printing. And our host, Michael, offers 1 on 1 printing classes at his gallery.

Since you are in Orlando drop down and take a look at the Crealde School of Art. They are located in Winter Park which is in your area. They have a photography program with classes and special events on occasion. They have a web site at: http://www.crealde.org/

You might find Alain Briot's Zion 2009 workshop a good choice. Mac Holbert is the guset instructor teaching digital printing. Alain and Uwe Steinmueller will also be instructing. It is a three day seminar in Novenber at Zion Park. I recently signed up for it and am looking forward to the class and a follow on three day shoot. More information -
