Hi,

I just bought a new 5DII in the box, but the box did not have the factory seal intact. Is there a way I can discover the shot count on this camera? I did not see anything in the menu or manual about this.

Thanks

No. But take a shot and see what the file number is. If it was used and they made no effort to reset the file numbering, then you might know.

But none of the non-1D cameras keeps total actuations stored.

The total shutter activation count can not be obtained from the raw file. Apparently the servicing people can obtain it, directly from the camera with their own software. The "visible counter" can be reset; this is probably the intention of the camera makers. A reasonably sounding explanation is, that the camera makers allow the dealers to use cameras for demos and then reset the counter and sell it is "brand new".
