Full Version: Which new MacBook Pro for Lightroom and Photoshop?

With the new crop of MacBook Pros I need to chose my replacement machine....

I'm likely to go for a stock 4Gig machine with 5400 rpm drive (I know, it's not ideal but UK pricing favours stock machines - a separate story).

My next question is therefore, will the faster graphic cards make any difference? (I assume that processor speed differences are trivial) The integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M promises high speed, but Apples makes claims that the units with a double card (including a 9600) will run graphics up to 2.5 times faster. CNET has run some generic benchmarks and is not convinced in everyday use (look here)

I am using Lightroom 2 and CS3 and only do a moderate amount of video editing.

Thanks for any views/thoughts...

Thanks Erik. Not up to date but I like the thinking! Will report back on insights found there...
