Michael, interesting review on the 17mm TS-E. You mentioned the new 24mm TS-E. Did you have enough time to review this lens ?
michael
I played with it, but didn't have the time for a test. It seems to be pretty much the same as the older 24mm but with the new mechanics, same as the 17mm. Canon claims better glass and coatings, but I can't say.

The new 24mm is sharper at the edges and the CAs are dramatically reduced when compared to the old moedel.
The IQ is IMHO a big difference.
Mind the price, the lens is expensive!

Review from The Digital Picture

Big improvement A to D: almost inexistent CA, more sharpness and even less distortion (which in the TS-E I was low but tricky to eliminate).
The new 24 TS-E is even better than the 24mm f1.4 II, specially when both are wide open (f/3.5).

Crop 100% samples from a extreme corner at f/11 using a 5D2 (TS non-shifted):
  • A: Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L
  • B: Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 L II
  • C: Canon EF 17-40mm f/4.0 L
  • D: Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L II

Regards.

Thanks for the replies.
IQ appears to be raised a notch going by Digital-picture's review.

Just had a day-long shoot with my older version of the 24TS-E. Looking forward to the new one for sure.
