Just thought I would start a thread on resources for fall colors. Here is the Minnesota DNR fall color report for Minnesota's state parks ...

If anyone else wants to add any links or simply report in that would be great.

For Eastern Canada you can look here - although now, at mid-September, it is really too early to predict accurately and I notice there is not yet any info on that link for Ontario and East.

From my memory of previous years in Central Ontario, my guess is that Fall colour will be slightly later than usual this year due to the cool wet Summer and the very healthy green growth we have had. To my eye, the first signs of yellowing are about 10 days later than usual and have yet to show significantly. If correct, this would put the height of colour in Algonquin Park back to the second week of October.

The Ontario parks site looks very comprehensive, but I'm not sure about the accuracy. I just returned from three days in Killarney, and to my amateur eye, it looked like 20% or less colour change versus the 40-49% they're reporting today. Birch and Red Maple are just starting to turn, but Sugar Maples are almost all green. As reported, there is very little leaf fall. Most of the colour at present is ferns and small trees in exposed locations. Colour change looked to be 1 to 2 weeks behind normal.

I have high hopes to actually be able to photograph some fall colors this year. As it is the winds we've been having have been ripping green leaves (and branches) off the trees.

Late here in SE British Columbia, too. I'd say at least a week, maybe more.

Well, between the dry spring and early summer, the snow a couple weeks ago and the endless rain this month fall was largely a bust this year for MN. That's my report.

Thats the best part of Mn, we go from HOT summer to Cold winter in about 2 weeks. biggrin.gif

Eastern Massachusetts is quite nice right now. Western Mass peaked a couple of weeks ago.
