The European Space Agency for the Southern Hemisphere has combined some 1200 images into an 800 megapixel panorama showing the entire Milky Way galaxy, with zoom areas in specific sections. Keeping in mind that it's nearly 30,000 light years to the center of our galaxy does make one feel small...

It was gonna be hard to top the 'world's biggest spherical pano' ... but this just might have done it!

Well, there's this one: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap090917.html - showing an area 200,000 light years wide. Only 330 images though.
