There's also something in Chasseur Dimage about a D2H.

The DX lenses will be a minor curiosity for me, with more attention going to the cameras themselves.

I wonder what a D100 replacement would be like. I doubt the MP count will be much if any higher, but there are other ways to significantly improve on the D100.

From what I've read, the D100 image buffer is smaller and slower than the D1X, especially as the card fills up. Heard it really slows down then. For anyone who has a D100 and a D1X both, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about how the buffer compares. A larger buffer and compatibility with the new 2-4GB  32-40X CF cards will be a must IMO.

D100 also tops out with a max flash sync speed of only 1/180th second compared to 1/250 for most 35mm film SLRs and 1/500 for D1X.  Improving to at least 1/250 would be nice.

The D100 has a minimum ISO of 200 compared to 100 for some other D-SLRs and 125 for D1X. I would hope a D200(?)could take the lowest ISO setting down to 100.

It seems almost that no-one in the entire English speaking photographic world can read French, since most of the discussions of that Cd'I article are based on horrible machine translations, and a lot of the discussion flatly contradicts what is actually said.

I cannot read much French either, but I think that I can extract a couple of the main claims of Cd'I:

* The main announcement will be a replacement of the D1H; a sports photography machine with about 4MP, 7fps, very brief shutter lag/blackout, and some wireless (WiFi, not Bluetooth) technology for off-loading photos. Also, it will use the same "DX" sensor size and the existing Nikon lens mount [contrary to some rather silly speculations]. It will be available to some photographers at the forthcoming world athletics championships.

* A possible successor to the D100 will also be announced, but not available till early 2004.

* Probably, one or more additional DX lenses will be announced, including possibly a 9mm f/2.8 ?!

Sorry, these are all minor improvements on the D100 (which I do not see as the pick of the Nikon compatible crop; that goes to the Fuji S2). More resolution please or I will be thinking even more seriously about changing to Canon and that applies to all of the Nikon compatible D-SLRs with the exception of the Kodak DCS Pro 14n, which does not seem to be as well rounded a camera as the 1DS (yes, I know all about the price difference).
