Has anyone tried to calibrate the 24 inch LED cinema display? Are the colors much better? Are they worth considering for color calibration?

Thanks!

Hello,

I bought a 24" LED ACD last winter. I profile it with Color Eyes Display Pro and a Spyder 3 at 6500 and L*. I've never had an Eizo or such to compare to, but the 24" provides me with the best color I've had in any display, including the older Apple ACDs. I did a side-by-side comparison of an old ACD and the 24" at an Apple store, where I profiled them both in-store. The 24" was smoother, and cleaner in gray ramps. The glare does need to be managed, but I have not found it to be an issue. I have no problem, when I use softproofing, getting a print to monitor match that is excellent.

Best,

Michael

L* calibration is really a bad idea in case of LED ACD, that is pretty nice factory calibrated to gamma 2,2. Try to use factory profile and compare it to the Spyder3 created one - I agree 100% with digitaldog, and belive that such calibration will only makes things worse.
