Full Version: Mamiya Pro IID adapter for P45+ AFD mount
Luminous Landscape Forum > Equipment & Techniques > Digital Backs & Large Sensor Photography
Mr. Rib
I exchanged my Aptus 75 for a P45+, Mamiya AFD mount. Now the question is what options do I have with a Mamiya Pro IID body to make things work with P45+? I assume (basing on my research) that my only option is a Phase one adapter USA part # 212-707.
Steve Hendrix, could you possibly tell me where can I find any datasheet or info concerning the adapter? Question is directed to you since it's you who posted the solution to a similar question on getdpi forum:) Google is not helpful with that one.. no hits for Phase one adapter USA part # 212-707 despite your post on the aforementioned forum.

What I found from Phase One P+ series PDF file is an adapter with part no. #70994, but at the picture there's a P45 mounted, not a P45+. After browsing through some webshops I found the part, but it is a "Mamiya RZ67 PRO IID Adapter for Phase One P Backs with Mamiya AFD Fitting incl. Viewfinder Mask"- also nothing mentioned about P+ series.. Is this #70994 the same thing as USA part #212-707? I'm a bit confused... And yes- I want my EXIF data smile.gif

And what about PRO IID HX701 rotating adapter for Mamiya ZD back? Has anyone confirmed if it works / that it doesn't work for sure?

The Mamiya electronic adapter is in fact not only for the ZD back, but any AFD-mount back. I'm guessing Phase has their own version of this plate, but many of the RZIID users with Phase or Leaf AFD-mount backs are using the Mamiya adapter.

Mr. Rib

The Mamiya adapter for RZ Pro IID (part # 212-107) will work with your P45+ and will rotate (revolve) on the RZ.

I'm not sure if P1 part # 70994 is the same. My suspicion is that it is the same, but also includes a mask for your P45+ (or whatever back you have). If this is the case, then it would make sense just to purchase the mask separately and buy the Mamiya version as it is $300 less. Our price on the Mamiya adapter for RZ Pro IID is $949 (hey we're lower than B&H!). An RZ mask for your P45+ would only add $38.

I can confirm this and let you know Monday.

Thanks,
Steve Hendrix

I can say that the Leaf-aptus Rz adapter does not fit the Phase camera mount P65+ backs. The Phase back has extra molding on the left hand side that makes it too big for the Leaf plate. Can you use this adapter on a non D RZ?
Mr. Rib
Thanks for fast anwser Steve. I'll be looking for a Pro IID + Hx701 combo then, since the revolving feature will sure be handy. I don't think I'll need the mask though since I'm going to buy a screen made by Brightscreen with custom lines.
By the way, I love my P45+ after an upgrade from Leaf Aptus 75 smile.gif

Oh, you wrote you would do it on monday. Sorry, too much work lately..
Thanks again

Yes, these are the same. We sell the Mamiya version simply for pricing reasons.

Also yes, there is basic exif, shutter, speed, aperture.

Thank you for your help Steve.

Hey Steve, If I block the contacts on the adapter can I use the adapter on a RZ Pro 11 nonD camera with the P65+?

Rick:

Nope - there's no cable and those cameras would require a cabled communication, which leaves the adapter for the ProIID out as a solution for "non-D" RZ cameras.
