Hi Folks: Was at the local art supplies store yesterday, and along with Ilford and Hahnemühle, etc. they've started stocking Canson Infinity papers. OBA-free apparently, but I was wondering if anyone has used them? They do have a 10-sheet 8 1/2 x 11 sample pack for $10 or something like that.

I did some testing and sample prints for Glazers Camera here in Seattle, both color Ultrachrome and Piezography. The papers were Rag Photographique 310, Rag Photographique Duo 220, Montval Aquarelle 310, and BFK Rives 310. They all performed well, nearly as well as the Hahnemuhle line technically, and I'd say visually, virtually as well.
All of the surfaces were attractive, and the Rag Photographique 310 looks like a good option for HPR lovers. I'm looking forward to trying the other offerings. I also tested Platine Fibre Rag, which performed very well, and in the SilverRag types of papers, but thought it had a hair more gloss differential with UCK3pk than some other papers in the same catagory.

BFK Rives is my absolute favourite paper. Shame it's so expensive.

I have much experience with Canson Infinity papers! We actually made all of the icc profiles for all of the papers and all of the printers. So much testing was done. In general Canson is one of the top competitors in the fine art paper industry. They have been making papers for over 400 years.

So many different surfaces to print on, what kind of surfaces do you like?

My favorites are the Patine Fiber Rag and the BFK Rives. The BFK does not flake like some others do, and has a very deep black. It is what I print most of my panoramics on.

What do you recommend in the way of a moderately textured watercolor type finish? Anything without OBAs?
