Lisa,

Basically, the A2 should show up as a generic USB disk. If you have Windows 98 or 98SE I believe you will need to install the drivers on the CD that came with the camera.

One thought - do check in the menus that the camera is set for data transfer mode, not Pictbridge or capture mode. See page 146 in the manual.

Also be sure the cable is plugged firmly into the camera body; it is possible for it to almost work.

Third thought - a USB 2.0 card reader will be much faster, as will a Cardbus PC Card adapter.

This post is specific to the Minolta Dimage A2.  I just got the camera and having difficulty hooking up to my PC.  I get a hardware failure when plugging up to the USB port.  We thought maybe the hardware didn't have enough space but there is 5gb left.  The card in the camera is a 1gb.  There's 256 K of memory in the PC.  Has anyone had this problem before????
Thanks for the help,
Lisa
