No full frame only refers to the fact that the size of the sensor is the same as a 35mm film frame - nothing to do with dynamic range.

Discussions of dynamic range are sometimes tough since the "useable" range will usually be less than the technical maximum. In any event I would think it would likely be in the range of 8 or 9 stops - others can jump in, but I think the 1Ds was a bit more than 7.

Hello -
does "full frame" means this camera will have
a dynamic range of 12 f stops???

Andy.

Thanks Tim,
so we can guess the dynamic range of this new Canon camera
would be about the same as the "old" 1Ds ? (around 7 steps) ?
regards,
Andy.

7-9 stops is quite generous I think. 5-6 stops is more accurate, however if you use the information at the ends of a RAW file by blending the image you can certainly get up to 9-stops.
