Is the Image >mode >lab color the same as image >convert to profile >Lab color? Would it make a difference when moving from RGB to LAB? TIA :

Convert adds 'Dither' option for 8-bit images.
In the convert dialog, you'll also see the rendering intents. Changing the perceptual/saturation intents has no effect as working space conversions are typically rel.colorimetric conversions.
