Not exactly on topic, but I'm trying to locate a slideshow program that allows one to burn a DVD for viewing on a TV set. I'm looking at ProShow Gold - any suggestions?

I have several clients that have ProShow Gold. I can't say I'm impressed. It's very basic, buggy and lacks color management. (don't get me started about the drastic price difference between "Gold" and "Producer")

Michael did a review of Photo to Movie which looks to be a better value.

It depends on what you are looking for.

I am using Proshow Gold and find that it produces slide shows on DVD for me. Yes its clunky and there are more sophisticated offerings on the market but I wanted something quick and idiotproof as I would rather spend the time I have elsewhere (taking photos for one).

If you have the time to inevest then i suggest you look at one of the other offerings already mentioned. (that doesnt mean to day they will take you longer to produce what you want, but as they have more to offer, in reality they probably will take you longer!)

it is very easy to use! though I think it is limited in output quality either that or I need to work on my images

My votes is for ProShow Gold. I've been using Ulead DVD PictureShow for a few years and recently upgraded to the latest version 3.0.

I tried ProShow Gold and it is much more flexible in terms of menu creation and indvidual effects for each slide. Principally, I my goal is to produce slide shows for my TV and other of our vacations and other events (wedding, etc). I recently created a DVD slide show of our family vacation to Ireland. 500+ images and ProShow Gold took less than an hour to burn the DVD. The same project took DVD PictureShow v3 over 2-1/2 hours.

The end product is comparable, but the flexibility and speed gives ProShow the advantage.

That said, Ulead's DVD PictureShow does have an easier method of adding music tracks to your show, but it's just something that I have to get used to with ProShow.

Again - thanks to all who replied. I looked at Fotomagico and that appears to be a MAC offering only. I'm using Windows.

I downloaded trial versions of Photo-to-Movie and Photodex ProShow Gold. For me, I found ProShow to be more intuitive that Photo2Movie. I could use ProShow in the typical male mode (don't bother reading the instructions) whereas I struggled with Photo2Movie. Course to qualify that statement, I'm sometimes a bit dense regarding all things computer. I have some issues regarding image quality, but the support folks at Photodex have provided some additional information which may help. Apparently the Slideshow is formatted for view on a typical TV and when I run it on my computer monitor it looks pretty bad. The Support folks say I can use the Autorun CD option for my DVD to enhance the quality on a computer monitor. Haven't tried it yet.

Budjames, I also tried the Ulead offering and wasn't totally satisfied. The interface is really basic and easy, but I like the additional options available with ProShow.

what about DVD Photo Slideshow?
