just received a canon rebel xt and when shooting with flash indoors the tone results are to gold - peach toned -- whites are not white, focus not sharp
pix of orchids -- they are very blended with background & details in flowers are not good. Rim of dishes should be silver;
pix of people -- gold hue over everything them & background;
oil painting- landscape-- again gold overtones and not really showing colors of the painting -- loss of greens and browns, whites are more cream, barn is more washed out and not as vibrant;
oil painting- 2 roses w/buds-- gold hues over everything -- roses are more pink, background more brown-greenish toned;

camers is set on auto, using builtin flash, using a uv filter and a sigma 28-70 "DG" lens, shot indoors in a home.

What can I do to help correct these issues?

?? I have tried to attach pix talked about above - they have not attached, how can I attach them to a post? Thanks
jani
It seems as though you at the very least have a white balance problem, which you can correct if you shoot in RAW mode.

See various articles on this site for how to shoot RAW and adjust white balance, e.g. with a grey card in the scene.

Also note the importance of a calibrated and profiled monitor and a decent printer profile setup.
