One difference is that the Macbeth is a small but sturdy item that can easily be carried in the field and should last a long time (if you don't spill beer or coffee on it). The Kodak is printed on fairly lightweight paper or thin card stock and seems much more fragile than the Macbeth. Also, the Macbeth colors are chosen to represent colors that commonly occur in photographs (including typical caucasian skin tone), while the Kodak I believe is sample reproduction colors (RGB and CMYK). Whether these differences are worth $40 more to you I can't say.

I have both, and find I use the Macbeth more often. I also have the WhiBal (white, gray, and black only) from www.rawworkflow.com/products/whibal/ , which I use more often than either of the others. YMMV.

I hope some others will chime in here.

Ditto Eric - I have the MacBeth and the Whibal - the whibal sees significantly more use than the MacBeth.

I've only used the MacBeth on 2 occasions to create a profiles for the 1d2 and Sony R1.
