...this guy is building digital cameras by scrounding parts from a flatbed
scanner and using a large format camera rig. Pretty interesting.

115mb images. Wow! Makes the Canon 1Ds Mk2 seem like a toy by comparison. ohmy.gif

Very interesting stuff.

Quite charming. But I would call it "affordable" only if you figure your own time is worth less than, say, 5 cents an hour or so!

There is a lot off interesting things there if you dig a bit deeper
.
Actually I had the scanner idea a long time ago . I think I mentioned it on this forum and ended a perfectly good thread. It seems the problems can be, and have been solved. The poor mans Betterlight. I see a profitable cottage industry for someone. Let me know if anyone takes this one up

I still believe that someone will produce an afforable scan back for 4x5 cameras. My Horseman 45LE and collection of Scheider XL and SS glass paid for themselves many times over, so Im storing them. I never thought I would miss the 4x5 ritual, but I do!

Either the affordable back will come, or I will have some lovely paperweights ;-)

My brother and I saw this the other day also. It was on the MAKE:Blog, and he had the idea that I should try it with a film scanner for 35mm. And I remember awhile back someone wanting a digital lomo. Now, all you need is a film scanner, a lomo, and you'll get your digital lomo. smile.gif Really though, Lomo should jump onto this type of digital scanner camera thing, it would be right up their alley.
