Luminous Landscape Video Journal – Issue 19

On Location: Namibia – a travelogue

• Michael & Andy Biggs lead a photographic tour of Namibia in south-western Africa

• Visit with them the eerily beautiful abandoned mining town of Kolmanskop where buildings are being slowly swallowed by sand dunes. Then visit the area of Wolvedans, a ‘moonscape’ of stark rocks and grassland. The highlight is a visit to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei where giant red sand-dunes soar above the stark remains of 800 year-old trees. Finally travel by small plane up the Skeleton Coast over seal colonies and the remains of iron ships to the far northern border area with Angola, visit the stunning Hartmann Valley and the nomadic Himba people. A slideshow follows.
