Geese & Tree Row— Ontario 1999 (D)

The migration of Canada geese every October produces some wonderful picture opportunities. The challenge is to find the right combination of light and background. I was particularly taken with the simplicity and symmetry of the trees, and the ordered randomness of the birds. The sunrise glow in the sky is real, but needed some digital enhancement to bring it out and make it a more effective part of the image.

Taken with a Canon EOS3 and Canon 100~400mm IS L Lens on Provia 100.

A perfect early-October morning. A cool rain the night before leading to a warm dawn with a cloudless sunrise. Ground mist that would burn off once the sun had been up for an hour.
