Debra Fadely-Raber
Debra's background is in fine art and photography. She has a BA in Liberal Arts with concentrations in Fine Art and Business. She enjoys working in all forms of media and mixed media. Collage is a favorite. She is interested in combining media and photography in a unique way and plans to create a new series using this method. Her work is often described as whimsical. Her style was more illustrative in school and then evolved to be more abstract and impressionistic. Today, it is a combination of both. Pairing spontaneity and calculation. She worked in the darkroom in school pushing the limitations of developing to create artistic effects with her photography. In addition to being a psychologist and professor, her father is an artist, photographer, and poet who inspired her to explore the arts. He always had the latest equipment and when digital became available in the early 2000's he gave her one of his digital cameras. She was amazed how much she could push the settings around. Capturing light in interesting ways and then manipulating it in photoshop. She became interested in taking portraits, street photography and still lifes. After meeting Kevin a new world opened up. Landscape and nature photography. She always enjoyed nature with her family. While growing up, her father was always painting and photographing it. Kevin helped her see differently and learn new techniques, both in capturing an image and in post-processing. He creates beautiful captivating images and is always happy to share that process with everyone. He's been an inspiration. Learning, creating and being passionate about photography is a way of life for him and she has been happy to be able to be part of that both personally and professionally. Gear: She's had many cameras from 35 millimeter to the Canon 5D she had when she met Kevin. Since mirrorless came out she used the Panasonic kit for a while, the Sony kit and is now working with the Fuji system. They all have benefits and features. It is fun to experiment. She also uses iPhone as a primary source for creating images and she's looking forward to getting the iPhone 10 in February. You can see my photography and art on my website, debrafadelyphotography.
