This essay is about the photographic industry, not photography per-se. But since a long page without illustrations can be boring and hard to read I've included some of my recent photographs as visual compliment. The photographs bare no relation to the text, but if the essay bores you hopefully the images will have made turning to this page worthwhile.
The Fun of Being a Critic
It's fun being a critic. You get to sit on the sidelines watching the foibles, antics, errors and sheer blunders made by others. While those involved in whatever is under the microscope are losing their heads (and sometimes their jobs), the critic can sit back and see the big picture, opining from the safety of the sidelines.
