Part 2 opens at a wedding party in the Exumas. Bob Taylor caught sisters dancing under warm incandescent light while a little boy watches from the shadows. Light, gesture, and color, all in one frame.
“Always take your camera. It’s very hard to shoot without one.”
– Jay Maisel
This half covers a lot of ground. Lorikeets wrestling over a rain gutter. A storm building over Capitol Lake in Olympia. An old man on the Fourth of July in Colorado Springs, 1978. Ruth Grindrod’s Malin Head, at the top of Ireland.
Jay told photographers to go out empty and let the world show up. Plenty of you did that this month. Thank you for sharing your work with us, and keep it coming.
Enjoy the issue.

Bob Taylor
A wedding party on a tiny, remote island in the Exumas. Warm incandescent light and splashes of color frame a memorable image of sisters dancing together like nobody’s watching.
I made this photograph a few years ago. Whenever I run across it, I tend to linger a while and recollect. Old Compass Cay Marina, weathered from years of salt air and the harsh Bahamian sun, boat names scrawled in bright paint across scraps of driftwood and nailed to the rafters, from the shadows, a little boy watching the sisters dance.
This was the party after the wedding’s Junkanoo celebration; it was a good night.

Attached are two photos from NYC for your consideration. One captures a casual conversation, the other is a mix of crisscrossing escalators, lighting and reflections, and a figure.
