I receive e-mail from time to time with both compliments and complaints.  Fortunately, the former exceed the latter by a considerable margin.

Here are some reader comments received during 2002…..

For more than 2 1/2 years I have followed your site. It has encouraged me to pursue a dream I have to become a fine art photographer. The information on your site has helped me grow and produce more interesting images. I am now represented by 2 gallery’s. Thanks for your efforts and your dedication to the art.

I come to Luminous-Landscape daily for it’s vitality and informativeness. Thanks for the time and energy you devote to the art and to the site.

I just wanted to write you a quick note to let you know how much I enjoy your site.  I’ve been visiting it for quite a long time now, and I still find myself getting lost in it for hours at a time following the myriad of links contained in every article.   The white on black is easy to read with an altogether very pleasant colour scheme.  Nice to excellent photographs.  The site is truly a treasure trove of information and interesting reading.  All in all, an excellent effort.  Thank you!

I just read your excellent article, "Instant Photoshop."  I was amazed that you were able to present such a great deal of informative information in so few words.  I envy your knowledge and your writing skills.

I want to commend you on your fantastic web site. I find it very helpful and use your suggestions for my photo trip planning. Keep up the great work! I really enjoy your web site.

I just want to tell you how much I enjoy your site and the Luminous Landscape DVD’s.  When trying to jump high, it’s good to know how high the bar is.  You have definitely raised the bar for me.

Luminous Landscape is a great contribution to the world of photography! We are all in your debt.

I owe a debt of gratitude to Luminous Landscape for the ALWAYS informative articles, reviews and comments. I enjoy my landscape photography all the more because of "borrowed" insights garnered from your pages.

I have to tell you that I consider your site one of the very best I have ever seen on the net regarding photography. But, I am an engineer by profession, so I like testing…rigorous testing, and you appear to do that.

Thanks a bunch…and thanks for such professional, thorough, and comprehensive reviews.

I would like tell you how much I admire the work you do on your site. Not many days (and sometimes, even hours) go by without the urge to check up on your work to see if you’ve updated. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but you really have quite a talent for both photography as an art and photography from a technical background. I greatly appreciate the technical prowess with which you write your articles.

It is refreshing to see articles about camera bodies or lenses (or even computer equipment and software) that actually proves with some substantive technical work what is good and what is not. You have influenced me greatly in how I evaluate products and determine what will meet my needs (both current and future) and what will not.

Your Web site is incredible. Thanks for sharing so much information with the rest of us.

Your site is fantastic and informative. Keep up the good work, particularly in the digital articles which I have found extremely useful.

Thanks for your wonderful tutorial on Panoramic stitching. Your site is unique. Best there is!!!

I find your site very informative relative to photographic composition and technique and find your articles, especially your Understanding Series, of great assistance in learning the fine art of Landscape Photography.

I’m sure you hear this all the time, but your site is a wealth of information. I am simply amazed. Thanks!

P.S. I am a subscriber to the Video Journal, great publication.

Love your site, it’s an awesome resource.

Many thanks for what appears to be an absolutely terrific resource for those of us who want to improve their understanding of photography.  I’ll be recommending this site to everyone I know who’s interested in photography.

I feel fortunate to have found your website. It is full of interesting articles and my understanding of photography in the digital world, has made a quantum leap since first visiting your site about 2 months ago.

I just wanted to say how wonderful your site has been to me. There is a bewildering amount of stuff out there: programs, photo equipment, computer equipment, etc. I often feel utterly lost. Questions like "how can I find a good printer without buying 10 or 12 bad ones" come up often. You can substitute most any topic in the above sentence in place of "printer".

Your site helps in this area tremendously and the hopelessness fades away by being given a few choices and the qualities between each choice.

Thank you for this site and your time that you put into it.

All I can say is "The best website I have seen for photographers!"

There is no other photography site that I enjoy browsing as much as yours.  You are a great inspiration to advanced amateurs like myself.  Your equipment reviews are not only excellent but unlike the trade journals are not influenced by advertising dollars.  If I can afford it, I would unhesitatingly buy any equipment that you recommend.

I must say what a relief it is to read real world reviews of equipment as opposed to the equipment-geek fetishism practised by… well just about everyone else really. Your site has a fascinating blend of equipment evaluation, artistry and philosophy that’s really quite unique. Excellent work. I’ll come back often.

I just want to let you know  that Luminous Landscape is the best photog site I have ever found on the net. Now my absolute favorite. I very much appreciate that you have created this website and share it with others. Visiting this fabulous site  with no intrusive advertising is pure pleasure!

Love your site – I check it every day. Thanks for the great information and inspiration you provide.

It’s such a joy to have your website to read or refer to when issues / questions arise. Just a thank you again for such a good website with easy to understand articles on difficult topics. I have sent many photographers this way as it’s a one stop learning / reading / discussion center.

Your web site and your photos are, in my opinion, sublime. Luminous Landscape has provided me with many hours of both enjoyment and instruction.

Just wanted to tell you how very much I enjoy your site, and your wonderful photographs…
It is amazing how the commercial forums are contaminated by both money and the nuts with funny names like "SuperPhotog" – I know, I know, yours is commercial in a sense, but you have (if I may phrase it that way) an artist’s vision and  a personal integrity of point of view which keeps your site content far above that of any other I have found).   I may not agree with every single conclusion you draw (I have a little experience with some of the same tools, etc) but I never have any doubt that you are telling it as you see it, and trying to make the (photographic) world a little better for us all.  I never have the feeling I am being lied to, or that you are just trying to sell me something…and that’s pretty rare  these days.   Thanks.

I really love your website and have found it so inspiring … thank you for the time and effort you put into it.

When I click on my bookmark of your site I always have a sense of happiness, I like the way you’ve built it.  You are into tech, sure, but I can see that this tech is always treated as a tool to obtain the wonderful images you present. A very practical approach that gives the reader a sense of "trust".
Then comes the wonderful Video Journal… what can I say ? Absolutely unique, a medicine for the heart.

You have an incredible site! I would particularly like to compliment you on your way of responding to people in the forums, in addition to your beautiful photography.

Wonderful website, very informative and clean. I know that I will be spending free time there in the future.

Your image of white sands with the moon is world class. And your site is one of the more functional designs I have encountered.

…just want to thank you for your great web site – I think it represents perfect balance between technical and artistic parts of photography!

What a great site! From now on, you’re my bible. I’m glad to see, finally, someone who’s talking about the pleasure of doing pictures, no matter what kind of tools you’re using. I mean, there is no debate or fight about analog vs digital. You enjoy both, tells the truth about both and that’s refreshing.

I just checked out the table of contents. I know where I will be spending a lot of time.  Its a wealth of info.

I’m a professional photographer in New Jersey. I find your sight INCREDIBLE. The absolute best on the web today. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

I find the Luminous Landscape to be one of the most useful photography web sites(as a matter of fact, one of my favorite web sites on anytopic)… your site is a refreshing break from almost everything else on the web.

Thank you for such a beautiful site. Your love of photography in all it’s aspects is refreshing in a world that seems to care little for beauty. The God’s have been good to you, and all of us out there appreciate the effort that has gone into making your site so very special. Best wishes for your continued success….

I’ve wanted to tell you for some time how much I enjoy your work and all the great information you’ve made available through your Luminous Landscape website. Your equipment reviews strike me as being uniformly clear, thorough and well-balanced. I’m grateful you’re helping to frame and clarify many of the performance versus handling versus intangible issues that trip up many writers and users.

Great web site! Your common sense approach to all things photographic is refreshing. Your photographs are outstanding. I have just found your site and I am in the process of going through all the information and trying the techniques.

With your help, in a matter of one year you have propelled me from knowing nothing about photography to a well respected amateur photographer and for that I can only say thank you.

I enjoy reading your web site. It is a fountainhead of knowledge for me. It has opened up areas of photography hitherto unexplored and given me a deep interest in digital photography.

Your website is lovely. Your approach clear and pleasant. And helpful to this vet shoot who loves photography more than ever.

I would like to congratulate you on an absolutely top notch site. I was browsing in detail last night and just couldn’t tear myself away from the well written, informative and up to date material contained within your site. Truly impressed and for someone looking to make the imposing leap to lightroom printing it is the perfect resource.

Many many compliments for your site. It really has opened up my mind on the possibilities that digital photography introduces.

This is really wonderful work. I was a curator of photographic collections at the State Museum for ten years and we have some exquisite work, but your images really are show stoppers.

wonderful site. i contact it it often and have used an enormous amount of its information to assist me in developing my skills. thank you so much for the great work.

I am so heartened to find such an intelligent, inspiring forum for serious landscape photography.

Your site is great, and the unbiased advise is refreshing, andinformative. Please keep it coming.

Just wanted to take a moment to congratulate you on your very informative and insightful site. I am looking at investing in a Noblex 135U and found your site great!

I am an enormous fan of your work, website and video journal. your photos are the best i have seen from a contemporary photographer and have encouraged myself and my wife to continue attempting to get better with photography and enjoying it more.

What a great site.  I’ve really enjoyed reading your reviews and information – very straightforward and honest.

What a beautiful site…your photography and commentary are wonderful.  I had a great trip!

Thank you for a first-class piece of thorough, informative, even inspirational work — your "road test" of the Canon 1D.

Thanks for the good, solid info….  My compliments on your excellent site and the beautiful work you do!!

Just wanted to give you some quick feed back on your Luminous Landscape web site… It’s ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! The best site of any kind I’ve EVER seen….the graphics, the way it’s organized, the ease of navigating through the links and the sheer mass of  information all far surpass anything I’ve ever come across anywhere on the Net, let alone in photography!  You’re really to be commended for this project!

… I’ve learned so much about digital imaging from your site  already that you’ve saved me years of trial and error in getting "setup" to move from the darkroom into digital processing.  Can’t thank you enough!  Just subscribed to your DVD magazine today and if it’s only half as good as your site, it’ll be worth every penny!

I have just finished to read your Canon EOS-1D report in the "The Luminous Landscape" magazine. Being an engineer I always appreciate clear written and full of useful content materials. Your article is perfect example!

Inspiring site. Is stronger praise available? Longer, to be sure, but know I hold a very high opinion of inspiration.

I have to tell you, your latest White Sands photos are awesome.Sand-Moon-Bush is one of, if not the, most elegant and beautiful landscapesI’ve ever seen. Thanks for sharing

Most photographers who are also printers (either desktop or chemical) know the importance of judging prints under conditions with standardized colour temperature and light levels.
