There are many ways to improve as a landscape and nature photographer, and most involve learning both the art and craft of photography. The internet is overflowing with tips, techniques, how-to’s, and an ever growing list of experts who can show you how to capture an award winning image. Missing from this approach, however, is a sense of what is best for you as a photographer and creative individual.
When leading workshops, I focus on the art and the craft, but ultimately try to emphasize the importance of personal expression over technique. This shift usually leads to questions such as, “How do you stay inspired?”, or “How do you find new ways to photograph the same subjects?”, or maybe, “Where do you turn for creative inspiration?”

His images have appeared in the NY Times, and his photography is featured extensively by Scenic Hudson, a non-profit organization dedicated to land and nature preservation in the Hudson Valley. Robert own and operates Beyond the Lens Workshops, which offers photography and creativity workshops. He’s also a regular speaker at the B&H Photo Event Space in NYC - watch his latest presentations on Youtube. Robert is also a Canson Infinity ambassador, and teaches printing workshops at his studio in Beacon, NY.
