A group discussion with Jeff Schewe

Rockhopper Workshops with photoPXL announces four new dates for The Fine Art Printing Workshops for 2024.   I designed these popular workshops to take your photography to the next level.

So many photographers invest heavily in great camera gear and travel to the corners of the world to make spectacular images.  For many, that’s where it stops.  They get home and work on a few images, which just stay on hard drives, never to be seen again.  I am old school and believe You Don’t Have A Photograph Until You Can Hold It In Your Hand.  It is wonderful to have all the digital tools we have these days to make our files great.  It does no one any good until you can hold that image in your hands.

Many of us were brought up shooting negatives, and to really enjoy what we photographed, we had to make prints.  That’s still the case.  Printing will become a new addiction for you.  After this workshop, you’ll find it’s not hard at all to make your prints, and you’ll spend countless hours going back through your files and making prints.  With each print, you’ll explore all the nuances of what your camera caught at capture.  You’ll see detail in your highlights, and you’ll be exploring all the beauty hidden in the shadows of the print.  You will immerse yourself in your images and find a whole new joy.

All our classes for these workshops are held in the Digital Imaging Studio at the Indianapolis Art Center, where I am an Artist In Residence.

Printing is not that hard.  Especially these days with some great software, incredible printers, and a huge variety of papers at your disposal.  This like photography, is the golden age for printing.

Join Jeff Schewe, John Pannozzo, and me and discover the magic you have been missing.  You’ll make prints throughout the weekend, and they’re all yours to keep.  Through our generous sponsors, we have 2 Canon printers and 2 Epson printers to work with.  You’ll end up making before the end of the weekend at least a 30×44 print, if not larger, and maybe a few of them, for you to take home.

We will explore all aspects of printing as well as paper surfaces.  We presently have four printers.  2 -17-inch printers, a 24-inch printer, and a 44-inch printer.  During 2024, we expect to add at least two more printers to our setup.

Check out all the details at THIS LINK on the Rockhopper Workshop website.

Photography is my passion and has been for 45 plus years. My career in photography has allowed me to travel the world, meet some of the most interesting people on the planet and see things I could never have dreamed of. My goal is to share the passion of pictures taking through photographs and teaching with as many people as I can hoping it brings them as much joy and happiness as it has me. I do this through Rockhopper Workshops and other projects as well as teaching at my Gallery in Indianapolis.
