The Edit While you might think the first thing to do is run out and buy a good scanner. Hold off: the most time consuming and crucial part of the process is figuring out what you want to scan, and then pick your scanner. My suggestion is that you first take the time to edit your work.  Once you do you can then decide on which scanner, and software, you might want to use. Have a large file of 4x5’s or medium format images? Then a flatbed would probably be your best choice. Have only 35mm work?
