Infinity. Antarctica. December, 2005

Canon 1Ds MKII with 300mm f/2.8L IS lens @ ISO 200

December 21, 2005

This is a preliminary announcement forThe Antarctic Quest, a 20 day photographic expedition to theFalkland Islands,South Georgiaand theAntarctic Peninsula.Taking place just 13 months from now, this will be my second photographic expedition to the bottom of the world. You can read about the first trip on the page titledAntarctica 2005, view all of my published photographs from that trip onAntarctic Archive, and enjoy some behind-the-scenes images atAntarctic Snapshots. You can also read the background to our2005 Expeditionon that trips announcement page.

But, that was then and this is now. Time to consider going to Antarctica yourself in 2007, just over a year from now. Time to save up, time to dream.

______________________________________________________________

This expedition in February 2007 is not a repeat of the one undertaken so successfully in December, 2005. It has a 20 day rather than an 11 day itinerary, and brings us to the Falkland Islands and South Georgia, as well as the Antarctic Peninsula. Though standing on the Antarctic Continent is a major draw, the reality is that for both landscape and wildlife photography the sub-Antarctic islands are where the action is found.

Itinerary

You can reada draft itinerary on this page.

Photographic Instructors

All of the instructors who participated in theDecember 2005 Expeditionhave indicated that they will be joining this new adventure – Jeff Schewe, John Paul Caponigro, Steve Johnson and Seth Resnick. Other of the world’s leading instructors are also discussing their participation with us. You can be assured of sharing this adventure with some of the world’s preeminent photographic educators.

Pricing

Firm pricing for this expedition is nearly finalized. You can figure on between $11,500 and $16,000 per person depending on the type of accommodation. This is an all-inclusive cost, covering the expedition, all meals, transfers, gratuities, alcohol during meals. and airline flights between Buenos Aires and Ushuaia, including your hotel room in Ushuaia on the night before departure. Your only additional cost will be your airfare from home to Buenos Aires, Argentina and any stop-over in that city.
