Michele Sons

Earlier this year Luminous-Landscape announced a special promo for our video subscription services.  The offer was that if you purchased an annual subscription to our videos we would enter your name for a chance to win an all expense paid trip to our 2015 Antarctica Workshop Trip.  We are happy to today to announce the winner of this trip, Michele Sons from Roanoke, Virginia USA.

Michele is a passionate photographer like many of us.

From Michele’s Website . . .

I am a southwest Virginia based photographer specializing in landscapes and portraits.  With the exception of Motherhood, nothing brings me more pleasure than capturing real beauty in my images.  I strive to create work that stops people in their tracks, I adore shooting in natural settings, and backlighting and blurriness make me happy!  Many of my images are saturated with color and texture, although you’ll find I love simple black and white equally well.
I believe that we are all entitled to own art, and that we all deserve to be surrounded with beautiful, meaningful images – of ourselves and the people and places we love.  It nourishes the soul.  . . . .

Michele has a nice website worthy of a visit.

Michael and I are happy to offer Michele an opportunity to experience the magnificent landscape and environment of Antarctica.  Like The Luminous-Endowment we strive to help photographers gain experiences and accomplish their goals and dreams in photography.  We hope Michele enjoys this opportunity and shares with all of us her images on her return. Michele will be joining us on our second trip of our two back to back trips in 2015, January 31st through February 9th.

Upon notifying Michele that she was going to Antarctica we received the following from her . . .

I’m a passionate landscape photographer with a great love of the outdoors and I couldn’t possibly be any more excited about traveling to Antarctica with The Luminous Landscape! I’m deeply grateful to Kevin and Michael, both. Since learning of just my chance in this drawing, I have dreamt about what it could be like there, the colors and the shapes and the light, and devoured information and images of the place. No doubt I will continue to do so in the coming weeks as I prepare for this once in a lifetime adventure. Making emotive, original images worthy of such a profound opportunity will be what I strive for. My heartfelt thanks to The Luminous Landscape for giving me the chance to experience one of the last truly wild places, to learn from an astounding group

And, for those that may want to join us, we have 2 spots left so if you are interested check out the trip details and register today.

Photography is my passion and has been for 45 plus years. My career in photography has allowed me to travel the world, meet some of the most interesting people on the planet and see things I could never have dreamed of. My goal is to share the passion of pictures taking through photographs and teaching with as many people as I can hoping it brings them as much joy and happiness as it has me. I do this through Rockhopper Workshops and other projects as well as teaching at my Gallery in Indianapolis.
