Technical Note:Because the name of the game in migratory bird photography is focal length, as it is with most forms of wildlife, and because many of the photographs in this section were done with aCanon D30which has a magnification factor of X1.6, I have noted theEffectiveFocalLength (or EFL) of the lens used. This will help give you an idea of the lenses that are needed when doing this type of shooting.

Also, because this shoot was so productive for me there are more than the usual number of photographs on this page. Therefore, it will load slowly if you are not on a Broadband connection. Please be patient.

Most of the photographs on this page were done with the brand newCanon 400mm f/4 DO ISlens, which I was testing for a review on this site.
