First out of the gate this past year with new camera announcements was Phase One.  They stunned everyone with the release and ready to ship Phase One XF 100MP camera system.  Sporting 100 megapixels, this was highest resolution camera available.  Not only was Phase One releasing the 100mp digital back but they also released a camera that set the bar high for the whole industry. Throughout the year Phase One has released a new series of Blue Ring lenses and two firmware updates for their cameras and backs.  Let’s not forget Capture One also that was released in version 9 this year.

aiq1-100mp-angled-switcherPhase One is not a stagnant company by any definition.  It’s been a while since we have had the chance to sit down with Phase One’s CEO, Henrik Håkonsson.  Recently at the Photo Plus Expo in New York City, I had the chance to visit with Henrik and get an update on Phase One and the industry.  As always Henrik was open and forthcoming.  Enjoy this interview and gain some insight into the medium format market. I believe we see even more cutting edge cameras and backs from Phase One over the next few years.

Photography is my passion and has been for 45 plus years. My career in photography has allowed me to travel the world, meet some of the most interesting people on the planet and see things I could never have dreamed of. My goal is to share the passion of pictures taking through photographs and teaching with as many people as I can hoping it brings them as much joy and happiness as it has me. I do this through Rockhopper Workshops and other projects as well as teaching at my Gallery in Indianapolis.
