Who doesn’t know Brooks Jensen? For anyone serious about photography, I am sure they have discovered LensWork magazine, one of the finest photographic publications out there. Brooks has been publishing LensWork since 1993, almost 3o years. All without advertising and maintained by subscription.
Brooks is one of the most knowledgeable people I know regarding photography and photographers. He is well-read, and his publication is well-read as well. Brooks knows more about photography and the history of photography than just about anyone I know, and it is evident when you speak with him.
Last fall Brooks lost his lovely wife, Maureen, after a long illness. For many of us who knew Maureen, we remember her as the glue that held everything together. Her kindness was beyond reproach. Her love for Brooks was strong, and if it weren’t for Maureen, LensWork wouldn’t be what it is. Brooks and Maureen started LensWork together, and together they made this publication what it was. She will be missed by all who knew her.
I have been a friend of Brooks and have interviewed him before. While I was developing photoPXL.com, Brooks served as a trusted advisor. I owe him a lot. I bounced many ideas off him, and I could always count on his straight forward, no sugar-coated response. Thank you Brooks you helped me make PXL what it is.
In this video, you will learn a lot about Brooks and his photography adventure from the beginning to the present and beyond. We have a few laughs along the way also.
Brooks is about to start a new life adventure. He has bought a big pickup truck and travel trailer, and he is going to hit the road and live in his trailer. He plans to publish LensWork from the road, and as long as he can connect to the internet, he will be doing his daily job but with a new view outside his window each day. As Brooks makes his travels, we will stay in touch with him and share what we can. I also hope to connect with Brooks out on the trail somewhere. We will indeed have an article about that when it happens.
