SEASONS

In the Quechua, the language of the native people of the Andes, Cusco means, “navel of the world”. From the hills just north of the city Cusco can be seen sprawling across the Huatanay River valley. It’s current population is between 350,000 and 400,000. This is about the same as it was when the Spaniards arrived in the 16th century.

Anytime of the year is a good time to photograph the Cusco valley.

TIMES

Late morning with partly cloudy skies is the best time to photograph this area . On a cloudy day almost anytime would work well. The shot above is part of a 3 shot panorama taken with the equivalent of a 35mm focal length lens on a 35mm full frame camera.

LENS & FILTERS

LENS: 28-70 mm on a full frame or 17-40mm on a cropped sensor camera

FILTER: none needed
