Vistek, Canada’s Phase One distributor, has asked me to assist them with a specialized one day workshop for those who might be interested in discovering what’s involved in working with medium format digital equipment.

This seminar is intended for both working pros as well as advanced amateurs – anyone in Toronto and Southern Ontario who might be interested in a hands-on experience with the latest medium format digital equipment.

This one-day session will take place atThe Luminous Landscape Gallery and Print Studioin Toronto, onThursday October 4, 2007.

The following equipment will be available:

– Phase One P20+, P21+, P30+ and P45+ backs

– H and V Hasselblad bodies as well as Mamiya 645 AF bodies

– large format and technical cameras if requested

– Elinchron lighting equipment

The day’s agenda will be as follows…

9:00 am – 10:00 amCoffee and introduction to the equipment

10:00 am – NoonLive model shoot in the studio

Noon – 1pmLunch and image review from the morning’s studio shoot usingCapture One 4.0andLightroom 1.1

1pm – 3pmLocation shoot in downtown Toronto

3pm – 5:30pmImage review and printing session using an Epson 7800 and an HP Z3100

This seminar will be for just eight photographers. Everyone will have a hands-on opportunity to shoot with each of the four backs and three separate camera systems. Everyone will participate in the model shoot and also the location shoot. Attendees will be encouraged to bring their current DSLR or other equipment for comparison.

All files shot will be available to everyone on a DVD at the end of the day. As many large format prints as we have had time to make may also be taken home or back to your studio. Attendees are invited to bring their laptop computers to work with the files that they shoot during the day as well as their own CF memory cards.

Who Is It For?

Photographers who are considering stepping up to medium format digital are the intended audience for this seminar. If you are located in Toronto, or Southern Ontario this session will be most convenient for you, though if you are coming from elsewhere you will also be welcome.

The fee for this all-day session is $299, which includes lunch, a model session, use of equipment, and as much printing as time permits. With only eight (8) attendees you are ensured of adequate time with each of the backs and cameras, and a chance to do any comparisons that you wish.

Michael Reichmann will be available as a resource all day, as will senior personnel from theDigital Capture Groupat Vistek.

In the event that you purchase a Phase One back from Vistek there is a provision for applying the full cost of the workshop towards a purchase of a Phase One Digital back.
