It was just a few months ago when I shared with you the story of the Medium Format Magazine and its team. I said I really enjoyed a careful curation and informative and in-depth editorials.
The same team that works on this excellent magazine just recently launched a sister publication called ELEMENTS Magazine. It is a brand new monthly digital magazine dedicated to elegant landscape photography, insightful editorials, and fluid, clean design. I especially like their in-depth interviews. Olaf told me they have interviews in the works with Christopher Burkett, Erin Babnik, Bruce Barnbaum, and more.
I had a chance to see the first issue and it is exactly what it promises. Great editorials by the best names in landscape photography such as Hans Strand, Erin Babnik, Bruce Barnbaum, William Neill, and many others. When you go to their website www.elementsphotomag.com you will find even more amazing photographers and writers, for example, Christopher Burkett, Christian Fletcher, Charles Cramer, Thomas Heaton, and many more. The design is clean and beautiful which allows you to sit down and enjoy photography at its best. Check it out. Highly recommended.
I now have six editions stored on my iPad. I download each issue and then import them into a collection in my iBooks app on my iPad. They synchronize to my other iPads as well as my computers so they can be enjoyed at any time. These are great for browsing with morning coffee or long plane flights.
The interviews and articles are top-notch and serve as great inspiration. If you haven’t figured it out by now I am big on books ad good photo magazines. Even after 50 years in this business, I find I learn something every day, and Elements magazine has been a great source for that.
There is also a very active Facebook Group. This group has around 1300 members and every day there are dozens of new landscape images posted. I have posted regularly in this group and find the feedback and comments very positive. It’s a carefully curated group so nothing gets out of hand. Even if you don’t subscribe to the magazine you should check it out.
