The Epson P800

Screen-Shot-2016-03-21-at-8.57.31-AM

As part of our Get Back To The Print series we have been focusing on different types of ink jet printers.  Recently Dan “Dano” Steinhardt and Jeff Schewe visited the Luminous-Landscape offices in Indianapolis.  During the visit we made a couple of different videos on a variety of printing-related subjects.  The video below was a discussion and introduction to the Epson P800.

In the video we talk about the set-up and different paper feed methods.  Dano is from Epson and helps set us straight regarding the facts about the printer.  As always, it’s a fun discussion with Jeff and Dano.

Success! It wasn't hard at all. First try. It is important as mentioned in the P800 review to make sure you install the wired driver as the wireless driver wants to be the default.

Overall the printer was easy to set up and make a first print.  Total time for the setup was about an hour and 20 minutes.  A good part of that time is spent waiting for the printer to charge the ink lines and print head.

I have now been printing with this printer for several months.  Mainly I  print using the new Legacy papers using the manual front feed.  It can be tricky but once you get the feel for it, it is simple to use.  Like the Epson 3880 this printer just seems to want to run.  I have had no clogged heads and have made excellent images.  It should be noted that I am driving the printer using the ImagePrint RIP software.  We will have a special extended segment with video on the ImagePrint driver in a few weeks.

Photography is my passion and has been for 45 plus years. My career in photography has allowed me to travel the world, meet some of the most interesting people on the planet and see things I could never have dreamed of. My goal is to share the passion of pictures taking through photographs and teaching with as many people as I can hoping it brings them as much joy and happiness as it has me. I do this through Rockhopper Workshops and other projects as well as teaching at my Gallery in Indianapolis.
