Kevin Raber, Dan Steinhardt and Jeff Schewe discuss paper, how it is made and the surfaces, OBA’s and more.

We talk about how papers are madeOur next video in the PXL Print It Series is about paper surfaces and how papers are made. Dan (Dano) Steinhardt, Jeff Schewe, and I sit down to discuss how papers for inkjet printing are made. We also discuss the type of paper’s surfaces and textures in paper.

Dano will clear up the vocabulary and let us know what OBA is all about. This is a fun discussion that will help you understand ink jet papers better and what it takes to make these papers. You’ll also learn not only how to say Baryta, but what it actually is.

The different Epson Legacy Papers
The different Epson Legacy Papers

We talk about Epson papers and especially the Epson Legacy papers. These papers are designed for printing your best printer. You’ll understand the EPSON Legacy line of papers vs. others in this video. Lighting your work is also important, and this too is covered in this video and Dano.

Remember, we have around 16 videos in this series. You’ll learn more with each subsequent article and video. We hope you enjoy these.

This PDF of the Glossary Of Fine Art Terms is a document that Dan Steinhardt has been adding to for a very long term. We think it is useful as you get more involved in printing. Please enjoy, and a great big thanks to Dano for providing this for us.

Photography is my passion and has been for 45 plus years. My career in photography has allowed me to travel the world, meet some of the most interesting people on the planet and see things I could never have dreamed of. My goal is to share the passion of pictures taking through photographs and teaching with as many people as I can hoping it brings them as much joy and happiness as it has me. I do this through Rockhopper Workshops and other projects as well as teaching at my Gallery in Indianapolis.
