Wow, what a year!  Merry Christmas from Debra and me. I am grateful for your loyalty and for being part of the PXL community.   I have been doing photography as a career for over 50 years, and every day, I am excited to learn something new and share my experiences with everyone.  I read of many people who say they get burned out with photography.  I can say that has never been an issue I have experienced.

Christmas 2023 is going to be a good one.  It’s one of the first Christmases in several years where I don’t feel stressed out.  It will be a relaxed Christmas with a Christmas Eve dinner with family.  Usually, I cook Beef Wellington and do a lot for the big dinner.  This year the only thing I had to do was make a Chocolate Chip cake. It’s one of my mom’s recipes, and it is really a special l treat.  I’ll share the recipe below.  Try it out and let me know what you think.

I plan to have a crepe breakfast on Christmas day, enjoy coffee with Debra, and relax.  We may do a movie later in the day.  Our first pick is Ferrari.

Of course, I will find time to sit at the computer in between activities.  I’m still editing images from Antarctica and prepping for a number of courses I’ll be teaching next year.  I also have a number of product reviews I’m working on.  In addition, I will be announcing some new workshops and consulting services.  Maybe because of all of this, I never get bored or burnt out.

I want to thank everyone who has contributed articles to photoPXL this year.  I encourage you to consider doing articles and sharing your experiences with the PXL community.  Everyone can benefit when everyone is part of the PXL community.  I’ll have more to say about how you can help PXL grow and reach more photographers.  Also, I want to thank Chris Sanderson and Michael Durr for all their help behind the scenes to keep PXL online and on track.

Please enjoy your holiday.

Chocolate Chip Recipe – Our Family Christmas Dessert

By Barbara Raber

Part 1 – In Bowl One

1/4 lb butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
Mix until well blended with a hand mixer

Part 2 – In Bowl Two

2 Cups flour
1 1/2 Teaspoons baking powder
1 Teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix these dry ingredients and now sift

Part 3 – Mixing It All Together

Take 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and add it to the first bowl

Take 2 cups of sour cream and slowly add the sour cream and flour mixture to bowl one.
Use a hand mixer to blend together until you have a smooth batter mixture. (yummy)

Part 4 – Chocolate Chips

Take a bag and half of Semi-Sweet chocolate chip morsels
Mix in a bowl with 1/2 sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Mix these together so the chips have some cinnamon on them. There will be sugar and cinnamon at the bottom the bowl.

Spread half the batter mixture in a greased 9×13 inch glass baking dish—even it out with a spatula.
Now sprinkle half the chocolate chips with some of the sugar to make a layer.
Add the rest of the batter. It will pour out slowly, so try to cover the previous layer without disturbing it. If needed, use the spatula to even it out gently.

Spread the rest of the chocolate chips with the sugar cinnamon on top.

Bake in a 350-degree oven for 30 minutes.

Cool and serve.  We throw a dollop of whipped cream on each piece.  It’s the best.

Enjoy!

Merry Christmas

Photography is my passion and has been for 45 plus years. My career in photography has allowed me to travel the world, meet some of the most interesting people on the planet and see things I could never have dreamed of. My goal is to share the passion of pictures taking through photographs and teaching with as many people as I can hoping it brings them as much joy and happiness as it has me. I do this through Rockhopper Workshops and other projects as well as teaching at my Gallery in Indianapolis.
