A few months ago Chris and I had the opportunity to sit down with four educators / teachers of photography at the School Of Visual Arts in New York city.  Photography is undergoing a major change and as a result, those in education are changing their approach as well as curriculum.  I have been very impressed with the School of Visual Arts in NYC.  Katrin Eismann our host during our visit is an excellent educator and it is very obvious that the school is well respected and its course focused on the success of their students.

During this interview, we visited with Alicia Hanson, Lavonne Hall, Marko Kovacevicand Katrin Eismann.  Each of these talented individuals brought a lot to the conversation and it is interesting to see how they approach teaching the next generation of photographers.  While I try not to single any one individual out I did find that Alicia Hanson was involved with a very impressive program called NYC Salt.  This program involves working with high school students and has really changed many your lives as well as giving some talented kids an opportunity to pursue a career in photography.  Definitely, check out the NYC Salt web page.

Please enjoy this video and the conversation with these educators.

Photography is my passion and has been for 45 plus years. My career in photography has allowed me to travel the world, meet some of the most interesting people on the planet and see things I could never have dreamed of. My goal is to share the passion of pictures taking through photographs and teaching with as many people as I can hoping it brings them as much joy and happiness as it has me. I do this through Rockhopper Workshops and other projects as well as teaching at my Gallery in Indianapolis.
