Usually a corporation brings in a CEO and the CEO focuses on the company and drives the company forward. In most cases CEOs stick around a few years to put their vision and plans into action. Not Hasselblad.
On January 9th 2015 Hasselblad announced a new CEO Perry Oosting. Mr. Oosting has 25 years of experience in such companies as Bulgari, Prada and Gucci. He was the former CEO of Vertu a luxury mobile phone manufacturer. Some of the phones this company made started at $7,200.00 USD. So, you can only think that Hasselblad is hoping this new CEO can bring his skills at making luxury items to Hasselblad who has of late been been rebranding Sony cameras.
Over the last several years Hasselblad has been going through a number of CEOs. Here is a short history . . .
January 2014 Ian Rawcliffe replaces Dr. Larry Hansen.
Somewhere in 2013 Michael Hejtmanek is mentioned as CEO and President of Hasselblad and Bron
November 22, 2009 Dr. Larry Hansen is appointed as Hasselblad’s new CEO replacing Christian Poulsen.
Christian Poulsen becomes CEO of Hasselblad in August 2004 when Imacon and Hasselblad merge.
Hasselblad has been the topic of many discussions on the LuLa forums. Here is a company with a great legacy and brand. It has been bought and sold a few times and in recent years has been dressing up consumer cameras and rebranding them as well as selling them for very high prices. A venture capitol company now owns Hasselblad and continues to invest in the company. Is Hasselblad a luxury brand company or a medium format camera company? Gets a bit confusing doesn’t it? Let’s see what comes next.
