A little over a year ago I began my full-time adventure with Luminous-Landscape. It’s a true privilege to be working with Michael and Chris on this great websiste and during that time sharing in the passion that has made this site one of the most popular photography websites in the world. Photography is my passion. Since I was a child and picked up my first camera I have been blessed with great opportunities and a career in photography that has exposed me to so many great photographers and places all around the world.
As the new CEO and Publisher of Luminous-Landscape I have many ideas that I wanted to implement to make Luminous-Landscape a better site. It was quickly evident that the old infrastructure of the website was not up to the task. We are a photography site and we had no way to make galleries and easily do download of files and PDFs as well as no way to show a home page image in larger sizes. Publishing on the old site was also quite difficult and required many steps. There were no direct connects to social-media and a number of other things. Thus I set about the task of taking the whole Luminous-Landscape website and relaunching it.
Remodeling a website containing 5000 plus pages is not an easy task. Especially if these pages were written in a number of different HTML editor programs. I looked at numerous solutions and eventually settled on a small company located in the same building as my gallery. The team I selected were three young and aggressive as well as creative guys. They run a small internet company, Crafted. After numerous meetings with these guys I knew I had found the company to take Luminous-Landscape into the next generation.
Luminous-Landscape is successful because we have concentrated on a few things and have tried to do these things well. First and foremost we are a site that delivers original content on a variety of subjects all relative to photography. We are not a news aggregator or a review site. We do not do any AdSense or Google ads. We don’t do pop-ups and other annoying website tricks that only annoy readers. I believe we are the Imaging Resource For The Passionate Photographer. We fulfill this by good articles from some of the most talented photographers from around the world. We offer photography workshops with some of the best instructors in the business at edge of the planet locations. Our hands on reviews are just that. We buy gear and use it like you would and report our experiences with it and as many readers know you’ll get straight no frills reporting. One of our biggest and most popular features is the video store. We have 400 plus offerings in the video store that can be downloaded and bought individually or by being a subscriber you can have full access to all our original videos.
I have a vision on how we can make Luminous-Landscape even better. Now with the new site we can begin to get these plans underway. You can expect more videos, articles from new and regular contributors, photography book reviews, more incredible workshops and some surprises we will announce over the coming months.
All of us at Luminous-Landscape are very excited about the new site as well as the potential to grow Luminous-Landscape to an even better website without compromising the values that have made this site what it is today.
