Firmware Update 2.00 Adds Animal Eye Tracking

Sony RX10 iv
Kevin Raber with the Sony RX10iv

Sony just released Firmware Update 2.00 for the Sony RX 10 IV camera, giving users of the camera advanced real-time Eye AF for Animals. This is one of my favorite cameras. I have it with me when I go out because it is an all in one camera. It also sits close to my chair when I am out on my deck or in my living room as it allows me with its amazing zoom capabilities to shoot the wildlife in my backyards.

My Video

This is the video I did on this camera a while back. I wish I had the Animal Eye AF when I did this.

The firmware update, available on Sony’s support page adds this new machine-learning-driven focusing system and enables Eye-Af activation though a half-press of the shutter.

Sony’s Video

Real-Time Eye AF for Animals is demonstrated with this video of Loki the Wolfdog.

The RX10 IV received DPReview’s Gold Award, being called the “ultimate 1″ bridge camera” thanks to its “…outstanding image quality” plus phase-detect autofocus. The RX10 IV is the only camera in its class to offer this high-performance focusing system, and it’s what powers the RX10 IV RealTime Eye AF for Animals

Photography is my passion and has been for 45 plus years. My career in photography has allowed me to travel the world, meet some of the most interesting people on the planet and see things I could never have dreamed of. My goal is to share the passion of pictures taking through photographs and teaching with as many people as I can hoping it brings them as much joy and happiness as it has me. I do this through Rockhopper Workshops and other projects as well as teaching at my Gallery in Indianapolis.
