SEASONS

For most locales, October is an excellent month. It is midway between the dry season and wet season. Ecuador’s temperature very change little with the seasons as it sits right on the equator.

Some hummers, such as the booted racket tail are molting in October and look rather ragged. They are better photographed in the beginning of the year.

TIMES

Anytime during the day works for multiple flash photography in Ecuador. The light in the cloud forest is relatively subdued and it easy to over ride it with flashes. For perched shots a tripod and fill flash with a better beamer flash extender is recommended.

LENS & FILTERS

LENS: 100-400mm for 35mm camera, 70-300mm for crop sensor cameras
