A Dose Of Great Inspiration

For decades, there is one photographer who has been a massive inspiration to my success and love of photography, and that is Jay Maisel.  Jay is well known by just about every photographer that has ever picked up a camera.  His images, as well as his philosophy, are truly inspiring.  His life is BIG.  Not only is Jay a successful photographer, but he’s a collector of things.  His fascination with the world around him to this day drives him, whether through photography or collecting, what many people would think of as junk.

Stephen Wilkes, who we have featured on this site, is a truly talented photographer and worked with Jay as a young photographer. Jay had a huge building in the Bowery area of New York City.  It was an old bank building he picked up for a great price many years ago.  Stephen Wilkes made a documentary feature film about Jay, his building, and his amazing photography.  It should be required viewing for every photographer. You can find the video HERE.

Please bookmark Jay Maisel’s Website and visit it often.  Sign up to be notified when he publishes a new collection.

Photography is my passion and has been for 45 plus years. My career in photography has allowed me to travel the world, meet some of the most interesting people on the planet and see things I could never have dreamed of. My goal is to share the passion of pictures taking through photographs and teaching with as many people as I can hoping it brings them as much joy and happiness as it has me. I do this through Rockhopper Workshops and other projects as well as teaching at my Gallery in Indianapolis.
