This will be a short article with a video attached. Before the pandemic, we filmed this video and we were going to add more images and do more with it. I’d like to introduce you to the Sony RX100vii.
The Sony RX100vii serves two purposes for me. It’s a camera kit I can keep with me at all times. It’s a super capable camera that fits in my pocket and allows me to always have a camera with me. There is a 9-72mm zoom lens (8x) with f2.8 to 4.5 aperture. There is even a pop-up viewfinder that while small, works great.
This is also a very capable video camera. I have a number of capable video cameras that Michael and I use when doing videos. We haven’t done that many videos this past year due to restrictions of travel and getting groups together. We are hoping that changes as we progress through this year.
This camera is a kit for me. I have this camera as well as others in what you might call grab and run kits. I have a small bag with a clear front and it contains everything I might need. There is a small tripod, batteries, ND Filter system, charger, camera, and a microphone. I can take it with me out to dinner or parties.
The camera can go in my pocket along with a few batteries and I have a capable little still camera that can do just about anything my larger cameras can. If we are doing videos we will ad the handle/tripod, and the microphone.
The set up is a good camera for doing on the spot videos and interviews as well as vlogging. I use a Saramonic microphone on camera for recording sound. I must say the internal microphone is really good though.
You can order the camera at Roberts Photo as well as the Sramonic Microphone.
Jeff Schewe who we all know can be found with this camera hanging off his neck almost all the time. He can be somewhat a nuisance as a result as he is always snapping away with the camera.

As I said, this is a mini-review. The image quality, as well as videos, will not disappoint. The features for the camera are amazing and show how well Sony is at jamming high-end features in small packages. The AF is very fast, the frames per second are very fast and if you are doing video the slow-motion capabilities will astound you.
