SEASONS

After you first see the ruins you continue a bit further on the trail passing under a lovely waterfall. You then begin the magnificent climb up through the ruins. The view here is stunning. I feel it is only surpassed on the trail by the citadel of Machu Picchu itself.

You can see the Inca Trail we came in on winding it’s way around the hillside in the background. Just beyond Wiñay Wayna is the spot where most hikers stop for lunch. The lunch stop is at a closed Trekers Hostel.

TIMES

Groups normally start hiking at Km104 between 8-10AM. The above shot was taken just after noon. The shot above was taken with the equivalent of a 28mm focal length lens on a 35mm full frame camera.
