Xmas in San Miguel

Since I started spending the winter months living in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and publishing photographs taken here, quite a few people have written asking what San Miguel is really like.

Well – there is no one “really like“, since SMA is such a unique place. But, in the spirit of the season, on Christmas Eve 2011 I shot a small video of the festivities in the main square and on one of the side streets near where we live in Centro.

(Yes, I know it’s only 2011, while the title says 2012. Blame it onthe morning after the night before, and a slow Internet connection that makes re-uploading 500+ MB not worth the effort.)

This 3.5 minute video was shot primarily with the Sony NEX-5 and 16mm f/2.8 at ISO 3200. The street segment with the pinata was shot with the Sony NEX-7 using the Zeiss 24mm f/1.8.

Editing and grading was done using Final Cut Pro X along with Irudis Tonalizer.

This video is not intended as a demonstration of anything whatsoever. It’s just something that I quickly whipped together to say Feliz Navidad from San Miguel to all of our readers.
