This pictograph done by an unknown Navajo artist (perhaps Dibe Yazhi “Little Sheep”) in the 19th century depicts Lt Antonio Narbona and his Spanish force, which battled the Navajos in 1805 and massacred 115 of them.
The light in late afternoon from fall until spring will put this pictograph in the deep shade where it is best photographed.

Late afternoon on a typical desert sunny day or anytime on an overcast day.

FILTERS: A warming polarizer can be helpful.
