At our home in Mexico

Today marks the fourth anniversary of the death of my father and founder of The Luminous Landscape Michael Reichmann.

Undoubtedly he would have found our current era perplexing and disturbing. Born in London after his immediate family, my grandparents and aunts, escaped Berlin during the war, he moved to Montreal Canada at seven years old. By thirteen, he had picked up the camera and would rarely put one down for the rest of his 71 years.

If you are a regular here, someone who knew him or if you enjoy this site – take a moment to thank the man who gave us so much.

Many of you didn’t know much about Michael’s personal life. That he had a son who would go on to run the site sometime after his passing may have been unexpected, Michael had another son by a second marriage – Adam. Adam and I first met only a few years before Michael passed away, and our meeting was also the catalyst for the healing re-uniting between them after many years estranged.

A long time coming
Amazingly, though having been estranged for decades – Adam and Michael were very much like the same person. Attention to detail, love of cars and technology, and a wicked sense of humor full of warmth and joy. More bizarre is that Adam (an accomplished Tattoo Artist) trained people who tattooed me, in a faraway city from where he works, long before he and I ever met! Life is lovely and weird.
It’s not every day you meet a long lost brother who drives a Lotus.

Life is always revealing unexpected occasions for finding love and discovering that the mystery of our story is ours to discover and something we only lend a hand in writing.

Love you dad.

Many of us miss you. Including Teya, Adam, all of your real friends, the community you helped build, and your family spread across the globe.

I’m an on and off vegetarian, but I promise these were top notch.
